Airplants Display & Care

Tillandsias are also called “air plants,” which are native to South America.

Tillandsias are epiphytes, which means their root systems attach themselves to trees or rocks.

Tillandsias get their nutrients and moisture from the air.

Unlike succulents, Tillandsias require no soil to thrive.

3 Basic Requirements:
1). Filtered sunlight or shade. No Direct Sun.
2). Water.
3). Good Air Circulation.

Tillandsias may be grown in the house near bright filtered sunlight.

Water three times a week by spraying with a spray bottle. When completely dry, soak them in filtered water once a week for several minutes.

Do not use Distilled Water because there are no nutrients and it is too pure for airplants.

Fertilize once a month with a Bromeliad fertilizer or other water-soluble fertilizer at ¼ the strength.

Add a pinch of fertilizer to your spray bottle and spray lightly all over the Tillandsia.

Driftwood, seashells, coral, lava rock, crystals are great examples. You can use a hot glue gun or E600 glue.

Place hot glue on mount, and then place plants onto that area.
